Bookmarked Reading & Discussion Group
Our annual reading & discussion group is back! Join us this year as we discuss The Unspoken Truths for Career Success: Navigating Pay, Promotions, and Power at Work by Tessa White.
All participants will need to secure a copy of the book, but if you register by 7/31, you will be entered into a raffle to win a free copy! We will once again be partnering with The WICT Network: Washington DC/Baltimore, and one winner will be selected from each participating chapter.

2023 Bookmarked: Reading & Discussion Group
Join us for Bookmarked, a reading and discussion group hosted by The WICT Network: Southeast and Washington DC/Baltimore chapters. New this year -- help us pick the book! When you register, you'll have the option to vote on one of two books for this year's club.

Discussion groups will meet 12-1:00 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Sept. 13 through Oct. 4.

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity
We invite WICT members and their families (ages 16+) to join us in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia. WICT volunteers will assist Habitat staff at a ReStore facility in Alexandria on July 22, 2023, from 10 am - 12 pm.
Habitat ReStores are independently owned reuse stores operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations. ReStores accept donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items and building materials from area landfills. ReStores are critical to Habitat’s mission of providing affordable homeownership opportunities to local families, generate crucial unrestricted revenue to support Habitat’s programs and operations, and contribute to a greener environment. Volunteers will help with activities such as sorting donations, pricing, stocking, and organizing.

Women in Sports: Executive Women Redefining the Sports Media Industry
In partnership with D.C. United and NCTA – The Internet & Television Association, please join The WICT Network: Washington DC/Baltimore as we showcase diverse women leaders that are reshaping and redefining the world of sports and sports media. Hear from powerful women in sports, coming together to elevate each other, by sharing leadership best practices and expanding professional networks. DC Central Kitchen Volunteer Event
The WICT Network: Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter invites members and their families (ages 12+) to join us in volunteering with DC Central Kitchen on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
Volunteers will help prepare balanced meals for our community. Meal prep includes cutting vegetables, preparing salads, packaging meals, and other kitchen related tasks. No cooking or food service experience is required – just bring a great attitude and willingness to work.
Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants (not tights or leggings). No tanks or halter tops. Shoes with high-grip soles are strongly recommended. DCCK will provide hair nets.
All volunteers must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Please include the names of each volunteer that you are registering for.
DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) is an iconic nonprofit and social enterprise that has tackled issues such as food insecurity, food waste, joblessness and community health for more than 25 years.
DCCK uses a holistic strategy to deliver results across social, economic, and environmental metrics. Their approach provides hands-on culinary job training while creating living-wage jobs and bringing nutritious, dignified food where it is most needed in our city.
DCCK serves scratch-cooked farm-to-school meals in DC schools; delivering fresh, affordable produce to corner stores in neighborhoods without supermarkets, and operating a fast-casual café.

Women's Empowerment Night with D.C. United
We are excited to announce a new partnership between The WICT Network: Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter and D.C. United. The partnership will focus on women’s empowerment in sports, media, entertainment and technology. This event will include a pre-game women's networking event that will highlight women in sports and provide the opportunity to connect with women professionals across the D.C. United organization and DMV area. Immediately following the mixer, guests will also receive a ticket to the D.C. United/Orlando City match.
*Tickets are $20 and include your ticket to the networking session, as well as a ticket to the D.C. United/Orlando City match.
2023 Touchstone Series Kickoff: Know Yourself – Life on Purpose
Join us for “Know Yourself – Life on Purpose,” an interactive 90-minute workshop centered around how renewal, self-awareness and authenticity impact your overall well-being and performance at work and at home.
The WICT Network Global Leadership Conference Speaker Natalie Johnson will lead participants through a variety of self-reflective exercises designed to explore four dimensions of energy – spiritual, physical, emotional and mental. The program will culminate with participants drafting their own purpose statements to bring their “best self vision” to fruition.
Natalie is an expert in individual and organizational performance. She has over 30 years’ experience working with employers, healthcare systems and carriers on creating strategies that improve company productivity and individual performance. Natalie’s award-winning background in Exercise Physiology, Performance Nutrition and Performance Psychology sets the foundation for how behavior changes can have a significant impact on individual performance as long as there is connection to a meaningful purpose. In our fast-paced environment, Natalie helps individuals and organizations identify ways to sustain high performance while maintaining balance, health and happiness.

Bookmarked | Reading & Discussion Group - How Women Rise
The WICT Network: Southeast and DC/Baltimore chapters are excited to host Bookmarked, a reading and discussion group where we'll explore the book How Women Rise: Break the 12 Habits Holding You Back From Your Next Raise, Promotion, or Job.
Participants will be placed into pre-assigned small groups that will meet four times over the remainder of 2022, beginning Sept. 14, to discuss the 12 habits highlighted in the book, with an exciting keynote from the author at the end. The groups will stay the same throughout all sessions to encourage open discussion and networking, and will be a mix of Southeast and DC/Baltimore chapter members.
If you register by 8/8, your name will be placed in a lottery to win a free copy of the book (five people per chapter are eligible to win). All others can purchase the book on Amazon.
Meditation with Mary: Rest & Restore
Join The WICT Network: Washington DC/Baltimore for "Meditation with Mary: Rest & Restore"--a virtual guided yoga nidra meditation.
The session will include:
Intro to Yoga Nidra, benefits and set-up
A guided meditation session
A wake-up/return and opportunity for questions
Yoga Nidra is a sleep-based, guided meditation technique that releases the healing potential of the body by removing the mind - as in sleep. It uses a series of body, breath and awareness techniques and allows the body to deeply restore itself, balancing excess stress.
This class will be taught by WICT member, Mary Pratt-Henaghan.
Moving Beyond Mindfulness
May is Mental Health Month, join Yogi Jai Shanti for a discussion on "Moving Beyond Mindfulness," followed by a 15 min guided meditation.
When we think of mindfulness it can be considered being conscious of our thoughts and actions. Our days are filled with distractions, tasks, needs and requirements that continually move the consciousness to taking a back seat on our path. Mindfulness practices have the potential, once incorporated as a way of being and a way of living, to catalyze healing and full transformation in one's life. This virtual discussion will be about integrating simple concepts into easy practices that allow anyone to start small but end and win abundantly supersized. As a bonus we’ll close the discussion with a wonderful meditation to reset the body, mind and spirit.
